All the different Laura Ingalls Wilder De Smet, South Dakota sites have worked together to put an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant. It's going to be spread out over 3 weekends with all kinds of events. This is an overview of the highlights, a little later than it should have been, but I hope will tell you what's going on and prep you for my roving reports for the event.

This summer I made my second visit to the Homestead Nationa Park Service unit. It's the Homestead National Historic Park. This park commermorates the Homestead Act from the very first homestead to the last. Get a report on what you can see and do in Beatrice, NE.

Today we're going to celebrate World Read Aloud Day by reading part of Mother West Wind's Children by Thornton W. Burgess. We're picking up from our 10 minute episodes last year where we were testing microphones. This time our story is "Reddy Fox the Boaster."

As part of Alison Arngrim's reading I've discovered that there are a lot of things that Laura Ingalls Wilder Little House on the Prairie fans that have no idea that there are things to buy. I've put doing a visual walk through all the things you can buy, but today we'll just go through the list.

Join us for our annual Laura Ingalls Wilder birthday party. Every year we ask people to call in and tell us their Laura story. This year we're coming back after 2 years where we didn't get it done. (Time 1 was interrupted by a Disney trip and Time 2 was a complete technology meltdown, I couldn't hear you and you couldn't hear me so I talked to myself for an hour.) So this year's celebration will be our 8th. Laura fans are invited to call in and share either the story of how they became a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan, their favorite Laura Ingalls Wilder related experience, or annual family traditions based on Laura. Based on requests, I'm continuing it as an hour so you'll have plenty of time to call in. So please call in and help fill the time.
